Chateau Baret owns about 26 hectares (64 acres) of vineyards .. Most of the area is planted with three key varieties of red grapes Bordeaux - Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc - the rest are varieties Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon. Red grapes are planted on a tree lined street with a large proportion of sand-gravel and sand-gravel soil, while colder earthen limestone and clay gravel soil are ideal for the growth of the white wine grape varieties.
Château Baret is famous for its traditional methods of vinification. Red grapes are gently crushed and then fermented. After fermentation, takes place 3-4 weeks maceration and then the wine is transferred into oak barrels in which matures for about 12 months. The wine is then cleaned, filtered and bottled and about 18 to 24 months after the grapes were harvested.
Château Baret blanc is a mixture 75:25 of grape varieties Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon derived from a 25 year old vines with an area of 10 hectares. The wine is aged on its lees 8-10 months in oak barrels and then bottled.
