Haut-Médoc - South Medoc, characterized mainly granite and limestone-clay soils. In this area there are a total of 4160 ha of vineyards categories AOC, of which 255 ha represents cru classé ( Chateaux Belgrave, Camensac, Cantemerle, La Lagune and La Tour Carnet - Ed. have their menu). In addition to the highly rated wines cru class Star this region also provides several crus bourgeois , which are surprisingly good quality, and are an excellent compromise between quality and price.
 

Typical Haut-Médoc wines are red, medium to full-bodied, supported by a strong structure with long aging potential. Typical grape varieties for HM are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot.
